Astris looks him up and down incredulously, “Freyir Ampora? A father?” Then it’s all grins, “I’m assuming the lucky lady is no longer in the picture since you are currently in the process of taking me out for drinks.” Astris himself never married, only dated, and stopped doing so after that one person…he shakes his head and shrugs the thicker jacket on, eyeing the other man again, “Aren’t you going to be cold? It isn’t exactly balmy weather out there. And it’s not what I want to call it necessarily, but your tone and body language suggest that is what you want to call it.” He says this as he sweeps past Freyir, closing and locking the door behind them with a flick of his wand before pocketing it again.
“I wouldn’t call it teasing, really,” his grin is mischievous and he takes the stairs with long strides. He would consider it a form of flirting, really, a more subtle form, mimicking his body language and stance and not particularly reacting to the outright staring on the other man’s part. He doesn't mind in the slightest, nothing wrong with getting drinks with an old “friend”.

“Shockin’ isn’t it? But yes. One of em isn’t mine but I did help raise her. I think I did a fairly good job on my own too.” He grins a bit back then the smile kind of fades and he reaches up to rub the back of his neck. “Ah, well yes. My wife passed away quite a few years ago.” He tries to chuckle about it but really it isn’t much to laugh about and it just sounds a bit sad. Freyir coughs and waves his hand a bit in a dismissive manner. “But that was a long time ago.” He shrugs and looks down at himself. “I’ll be fine. If I really need to we can stop by my office on the way out and I can grab a jacket. I should be warm enough though. It’s not that far a walk.”
“Call it what you want and I’ll do the same.” He steps outside the room and watches Astris lock the door before walking side-by-side with him down the stairs. “I would call it teasing. I would definitely call it teasin’. An I see that grin.” He huffs and widens his stride to keep up, damn his long legs. Very long, very attractive legs…fuck. "I don't know what that grin means but it's hot." What. Freyir falters a moment and nearly trips but catches himself before he does, clamps his mouth shut and keeps walking down the stairs. Yep. That was enough talking for now. Freyir wasn't even drunk yet what the fuck, he had no excuse.

“I suppose they will or are attending here, depending on their age?” For a moment, he’s caught between looking away to spare the other man the sheepishness and reaching out to provide some sort of subtle physical comfort, a pat on the arm or shoulder perhaps. Anything to get that sort of lost look off Freyir’s face, but then the other shrugs and the moment passes. Astris doesn’t let his face return to its usual easy-going grin until they’re headed down the stairs.
“Me, teasing? Really? It’s been years since I teased a soul, Freyir. In fact, I can barely remembe—“
Astris matches the falter, simultaneously concerned for the other and confused by his words. As soon as he’s calculated that, yes, Freyir is in no danger of falling, Astris only grins wider, nudging the other as the reach the bottom of the spiral staircase, “Hot, you say? I must say I think that’s the first time I’ve heard someone call anything I do ‘hot’. You alright there? Trick staircase trip you up or something of the like?”

“They should be attending in the next few years actually. I’m fairly excited to have them here though. I’ve been teaching for a few years now so I don’t get to see them all that much.” He runs a hand through his hair and mentally shrugs it off. He really was very excited to have his kids in school here. He had high expectations for them all, and yes, he was counting Feferi in ‘his kids’. She sort of was in a way. His only daughter. Marine would love that, he was sure. Freyir could see her putting Feferi in all sorts of odd patterned dresses and dumb little flower crowns and those big obnoxious sunhats that she always used to wear though none of them would probably fit Feferi until she was much older. He takes his time remembering all these things and by the time they’re at the stairs the two are talking again and Freyir doesn’t feel quite upset. He liked remembering these kinds of things about his late-wife. It made the whole thing that much better.
With his slip-up Freyir keeps his mouth shut, shooting Astris a look that’s more embarrassed than irritated. Shoving his hands into his pockets he makes his way down the stairs. No he was not going to talk. Why’d he like Astris again? He takes a moment to consider this as they reach the bottom of the staircase. Freyir glances at Astris’ grin and it only makes his face even more flushed. God damnit. You fucked up Freyir. You fucked up real good. So much for having a nice calm evening/date/thing. “Shut up, I’m fine.” He grumbles, trying to force the obnoxious color from his face.

“Ah, both of my nephews should be coming here within a year or two, as well. Neither were very excited when they learned that normally electronic devices don’t work on the grounds.” Astris chuckles quietly and tugs at his sleeves absentmindedly as they make their way through halls that will soon enough be filled with the sporadic chatter of students when the train arrives in a few days. Mituna especially had been disappointed to hear about the lack of Wi-Fi on the grounds and had sulked for a bit. Astris would admit a bit of fond curiosity for Muggle technology and had spent some free time recently tinkering with various devices, a good distraction for a wizard with quite a bit on his mind.
“Are you sure you’re fine?” Astris bites his lip for a moment before quietly and calmly adding on, “I think you might mean quite fine, Freyir.” He even gives the other man a quick once-over, grin fading to something more subtle. Was the other man blushing? Precious. “Are you catching a fever? Will we have to call off this little evening plan of ours, or perhaps give it a rain check?” Outside, it seems to be a bit breezy, but the clear sky further affirms that, yes, Astris is definitely teasing.

“Hm, perhaps they’ll be in the same year then.” He shrugs. “My kids have been pretty excited to go, at least the last time I was home I believe they were. Eridan is, I know that for sure.” Freyir muses. Eridan was always excited to be learning new things. Cronus? He wasn’t too sure. He never knew what Cronus was thinking anymore. Cronus was odd and drew into himself the more Freyir tried to interact with him so eventually he just stopped. Why bother when it obviously wasn’t helping?
“Yes, I’m sure.” He waves his hand dismissively and huffs a bit. That next line makes him shake his head and put a hand to his mouth. “That was a horrible line, Astris.” Freyir was absolutely not blushing…not much at least. It was cold, ok? “I’m not getting sick. Though with all that you’re spewin’ you might be.” He huffs. Outside it’s just as cold as it was in the tower and without the torches on the walls it’s much darker. Freyir pulls out his wand and casts a quick Lumos spell and keeps walking. “Come te think of it, I do remember yer teasin’ ta be this bad. Your flirting though? I wasn’t aware ye were so cheesy.”
