Feferi always forgot about Karkat's personal space issues, but she was such a forward and outgoing person she simply assumed people had no problem with getting close and personal, and once she realized her mistake she quickly retracted her hand, starting to feel rather awful for making the mistake. She couldn't seem to help her instinct, but she'll be sure to try and work on it.
And then at the moment of his forced smile she realized she had successfully ruined the mood. Everything was nice, and simple, and sweet, but Feferi had to look to long, and try too hard. She just really appreciated Karkat, and the things he does for not only her but for everyone else, and he always seems to go unrewarded for it. It's funny how people simply do things of common courtesy to one another, like everyone should, but people can either view it as something incredulously special, or something to look past and not cherish.
Finally, her stream of consciousness broke from herself when Karkat's voice pierced through them. Giving a small smile once more, she nodded. "Thank you, and I hope I never have to 'shoot the shit' with you again. I tend to get too emotional in my endeavours and I don't want to put you through something so uncomfortable. But, I appreciate the offer! "
She noticed him continuously sipping his coffee and hiding his face behind the steam. Maybe she made his flustered. Or maybe his mouth was just dry.

He sets down his coffee and licks his lip thoughtfully, staring down into his cup as the safer option between that and looking back up into her eyes. He didn't know what to make of it and he wasn't willing to see if it was gone yet to hazard getting another glimpse. It was already burned into his retinas and he'd probably be dwelling on it for ages. Bluh. She probably looked at everyone like that and he was just making a huge fucking stink of it like an overassuming piece of shit. He shakes the thought away and continues on, a very light flush nearly unnoticeable against the dark of his skin.
"I'm- It's not uncomfortable. I like helping talk people through whatever issues they're having. I'm kind of a huge nosy asshole in case you haven't noticed. Plus, you're one of my friends, and if something is upsetting one of you, it's pretty much undoubtedly going to upset others in our weird raggedy mishmashed group too. Then it turns into one gargantuan clusterfuck of feelings and miscommunications and someone might wind up with a permanent stick up their ass about something that could have been completely avoided, butthurt and unwilling to work through it anymore. I've been in situations like this so many times. I just... don't want to lose any friends, or see anyone else lose their relationships either. " He runs a hand through his hair anxiously, making his bedhead even worse as he tugs at the thick black locks. Even talking about losing people made him nervous about it, the constant stream of people through his early life having made him a tad neurotic about his relationships. Even Kankri had been seperated from him a time or two, though he knows it wasn't something his older brother had any control over.

No Karkat, Feferi didn't just look at people like that. In fact, she hadn't looked at someone like that in years. Maybe it was just the rush of the kind words cascading over her emotions at the moment, but maybe she really did like CrabCatch. I mean, she always found herself with a loss of words when he gave one of his pathetic excuses for a comment, and when she caught him staring once, he made sure not to do it again. Or atleast not let her catch him. All in all, Karkat was a sweet guy who treated her like gold.
But, she had to snap out of that mindset. He was a friend, and he was obviously not looking for someone to be more than that, well, atleast not her. And when he simply explained himself, she realized that if he did want something like that, he'd find it someone else. It's not like she wouldn't be happy for him.
" Wow, I uh... I didn't know that you've had troubles with this before... I'm really sorry about that.. And, I'm .... sorry for looking at you so oddly.. I just, I don't know. I felt really happy and I just wish that more people would so how special you are, and anyone would be lucky to call your their friend, and I bet your partner will be the luckiest person alive. And it sucks you don't see that in yourself... " She gave a simple, soft look at him before shuffling her things into her nearby bag.
" Aaand on that note, since I made things REELY awkward, I think I'll be taking my leave. I don't wanna creep you out anymore....."

".... While I'm not going to deny things just got about a hundred percent more awkward, you don't have to go anywhere." He mumbles, looking down at the table and feeling sort of embarrassed. He had no idea where she was taking this or why she mentioned him having a partner but he sort of felt like he was missing something big and glaring and meanwhile he was just grasping for metaphorical straws like a child in a fucking malt shop about to get a heaping glass of dumbassbeer. Oh god he's been hanging around Dave way too much lately.
"You didn't look at me weird, I don't know what you're talking about. But, uhh, thanks. I guess. Mm. Uh. I guess see you around if you are going to go, though. I'm just going to, y'know. Read my book anyway. Mm." He fudges out, his ears and face burning with a blush he knows is showing up. His horrible posture takes a turn for the even worse as he sinks into his seat, his scarf hiding his cheeks somewhat in the position. He keeps his eyes on his coffee again, watching the steam rise to give him something to focus on.

She let her rather upset demeanor melt for just a few moments once she saw how utterly nervous and flustered he was about all of this. CrabCatch was simply adorable when he was embarrassed, and this was no exception to that common law of nature. Giving a small grin, and a light chuckle, she let her lanky hands adjust the burlap strap around her petite shoulder to tighten before walking over to his end of the table, and letting those tiny legs of hers bend down slightly so she could place a tiny peck on his blushing cheek before saying, " Sea ya' CrabCatch "
Walking through the shop with a sense of new found confidence, she could only pray he might get up from his seat and come after her. But she's not a princess, and this ain't no fairy tale.
KARKAT, RUN AFTER HER YOU LITTLE SHIT

Karkat hadn't had time to lean away when she kissed his cheek, too nervous to move and not wanting to upset her by jerking away either when she clearly was feeling better. He had gripped the sides of his cup hard and bore it stiffly, a heavy feeling settling in his stomach and his skin breaking out in goosebumps. He didn't like people (other than maybe sometimes his brother if it was absolutely necessary) in his personal space but... it wasn't like it was her fault for forgetting. It was his for not being fucking normal and letting past experiences fuck with possible opportunities for romance. He sighs and sinks deeper into his seat, feeling like shit for knowing he was an awful excuse for a human.
He sat staring numbly at his cooling coffee a while longer before pulling his book towards himself, wanting to focus on someone else's problems and entanglements to drown out his own shortcomings and the lingering prickly feeling he couldn't quite brush off of his cheek.

The young familiar Peixes passed him without a glance, but it's not as if she's seen Cronus that often- christ the last time he'd saw the lass she was ...well a little taller than Eridan at the time, but they were younger. He'd kind of avoided contact with both families unless absolutely needed for various reasons.
Wandering further into the tea shop and ordering a lightly cremed hazelnut java himself (god that smells so damn good) pale green eyes spot a familiar face and a fellow Gryffindor. He'd seen him hanging about the younger Ampora in the Library at times, but Cronus tended to stay far to the back when in places of study- since his concentration wasn't the swiftest- so he didn't know him from that. No, he knew him because of his fellow classmate Kankri Vantas had an occasion of mentioning him in the times when Cronus'd found council in the guy. Despite it not being that often at least he humored him. Perhaps his kid brother would-- wait that look on his face looks familiar. Ouch. Books clutched to his chest, the posture, that cooling cup of half wasted coffee...
The Raven haired boy mused over it after a few sips- he gives it a shot and saunters over to Karkat's table without a word, sitting uninvited in the previously warmed seat by Feferi; his cup somehow finds its way to the table and hands to cup under his chin, a practiced cheeky grin plastered on his chapped lips.
"well well there, whats this look for? you tryin to use that book as a shield- or is your tongue not sharp enough to use as a sword of gryffindor?"

Karkat looks up from his opened book, having made himself crack the stupid thing open and at least try to read the page he'd left off of. He had a hand on his face, trying to imprint the feeling of his own skin against his cheek to wipe away the sensation of Feferi's while he busied himself with his distraction. He hadn't expected anyone else to come up to him while he wallowed in his misery, having already distracted some of the nearby couples in the cafe with his outburst and maybe half-hoping he'd be left alone to recover from the interaction. He swallows his nerves and lets the anger drive his response instead, not liking Cronus's "greeting." Rude fucker.
"Funny, I don't recall you being sorted as a Slimeball, Ampora. I don't have to explain myself to you, but even if I DID, for some UNFATHOMABLE and undoubtedly ASININE reason, I'd say I was- Oh, I don't know- using my book my book for its intended purpose. I don't know if five years in that shitty dump of an asshole rumpus they call a school has taught you ANYTHING, but guess what you use books for? Not as a fucking defensive metallic piece of tin to hide your cowardly face so it doesn't get busted in some clusterfuck of a dick waving contest. You know what it IS for? Hang on, I'm about to lay down some goddamn knowledge for you you incompetent crotchstained shitmouth- it's for READING! Do you know what people reading like, Ampora? Not being disturbed by living embodiments of a blast-ended skrewt's feces! So how's THAT, Ampora? Was that fucking sharp tongued enough for you? Or do I need to keep tearing down the withered and smelly remains of your self esteem?" He bites out scathingly, doing his best to keep his voice to a dull roar as he glares at Eridan's brother and lets himself use him as alternate route to venting. There was nothing that quite made him feel better than finding ways to release his anger, even if he knew unloading it on people was an awful tactic. But fuck it, Cronus was a douche anyway.

The corner's of his lips merely pull flat in a half-assed disappointment, but soon they return to the smug grin he'd had but a second before.
"Vantas if there's anything I know how to do, it's read. Especially people like you who tend to bottle up their emotions like butter beer, shake it up past bursting point and decide to Molotov the poor sucker at someone they actually care about. Now, correct me if I'm wrong whatever's eatin you has your coffee runnin cold and has your face about as sour as the apples that probably used to grow on the womping willow some centuries ago. I'm not bothering you readin, you just cracked that sucker open you can just as easily set it back down a moment."
Cronus leans back into his chair slinging his arms over the back of it, his robes once again half missing, only his dress shirt, red and gold tie, and slacks. He crooks a brow and a grin at Karkat. He knew to get the kid riled might not be best, but he didn't mind being yelled at if it was actually helping someone else...he didn't mind the harsh words, it's not like he'd gotten better from most others.
"And for the record, yes that's plenty sharp- you file that thing often or is it just painful to others when you stab them because Kanks tends to dull it?" He knew he was prying somewhat and not in full- but best to start out laying foundations and catching Karkat in his words along the way. After a time most people slip up and say specific key notes you can always mention to calm them down later. Cronus wasn't protured from Karkat's speech- and being a slime ball wasn't exactly the worst he'd been called.
