Appearance:
Cal is an incredibly skinny young person of ambiguous gender, pale skin, and short blonde hair. When asked about gender, Cal will often say it doesn’t matter or just answer differently every time asked. Just to be on the safe side, most people refer to Cal as “they” or any other neutral pronouns. Cal never corrects anyone about pronouns because they don’t really care. They also have dark circles around their eyes. Cal’s eyes are bright blue.
Cal’s appearance is often the source of concern, due to their lack of weight and unusually pale skin. Its suspected they’re albino or incredibly anemic but Cal rarely shows if it affects them. Cal’s hair often covers their eyes, making their moods hard to discern. To take attention away from their features, Cal wears makeup.
Over the summer, Cal attempted to sharpen their teeth with a file to look more ‘dangerous’. The job got severely botched due to the pain, Cal’s lack of an idea as to what in the hell they’re doing, and Cal’s teeth already being in poor condition.

Cal is explorative. They like to make new friends and see new things and places. They live their days without thinking ahead or considering much else. They enjoy learning a lot about others, but are rarely forthcoming with information about themselves. Cal’s personality varies depending on who they are with. In the presence of adults and most authority figures, Cal is quiet and withdrawn. They only speak when spoken to and will not make eye contact with adults.
In the presence of fellow students (or adults he doesn’t perceive as threatening, namely anyone who is within the age range of 18 to late 20s), Cal becomes bouncy and talkative. They have a tendency to speak frantically, repetitively, and often philosophizes contradictory. They can be complaining about the universe one minute and then talking about things that make them happy. Often its just rambling and Cal’s mood is either 0 or 100, never in-between.
Cal is also flirtatious with people, though they’ve never been in a relationship or even on a date.
Background:
Cal was born in the swampy woodlands of Britain, in the ancient castle their family had lived in for generations. Cal comes from a long line of prolific wizards who always professed to the strong purity of their blood. However the purity didn’t allow for much stability. The family fortune was spent before Cal was even thought of and many of the offspring were infirm. Currently, Cal is the only surviving descendant.
Cal grew up in the decaying castle under the scrutinizing watch of other relatives. To them, Cal was a failure: a layabout who didn’t take anything seriously and couldn’t bring glory back to the family name. Attempts to make Cal more studious (or a better wizard at least) proved futile. Due to a strict upbringing (especially at the hands of their mother and father), Cal is still wary in the presence of adults, especially other purebloods – which would explain the silence and lack of eye contact with perceived adults.
When Cal arrived at Hogwarts, the family were relieved they were sorted into Slytherin. Now they await to see if Cal will become the shining diamond of an heir that will give them their glory back. Cal has no interest in doing this but does not ‘wish to crush the family’s dreams’.
Quirks & Et cetera:
Most of Cal’s quirky behavior could be attributed to wanting to annoy other pureblood. They also act strangely just to see other’s reaction to it.
One of these things is pretending to be a parseltongue. No one knows why Cal does this, holding long conversations with snakes that don’t understand or even attack them because Cal won’t leave them alone. Cal has a strong fondness for cats and snakes and will go out of their way to help any of these animals in need.
Cal likes the color green and is very good at traditional games, namely chess though they like modern games like Monopoly. They own several board games and often invite people to play with them.
Cal enjoys breaking or dismantling things.
Cal is intersex and shows no interest in choosing a gender identity, often stating their gender as “giggling marionette” or something along those lines. The official records list Cal as male. Sometimes Cal will switch between girl or boy uniforms just to see the reaction.
Cal has an unsettling and loud laugh.
