-LOOKS-
Appearance (100 character minimum):
Jade is a tall girl with bright green eyes and incredibly curly black hair. The hair is worth noting, namely the abundance of it and how Jade mostly ignores it. Its just a regular wash, brush, and then its ignored until it needs to get washed again. She is also in good shape, always concerned about physical fitness. She has several marks on her hands and arms from magical experiments gone ‘awry’. Jade will always say it doesn’t bother her but she covers up the scarred areas until they’re completely healed.
Although she can appear imposing (due to height and muscles), Jade is a always wearing something bright and colorful. When not in uniform, she can be seen wearing shirts related to various childish cartoons and TV shows like The Squiddles or The Snorks.
-ABOUT-
Personality (200 character minimum):
Inquisitive and cheery, Jade always wants to know more about the world around her and even when her questions are answered, sometimes its just not enough for her. She honestly does not believe in the concept of ‘its magic I don’t have to explain anything’. She wants to know more. Where does magic come from? What makes a muggle a muggle and a wizard a wizard? Is there any way to switch between the two? Jade tends to also become obsessive about her thoughts and will sometimes forego food and sleep pondering things. Often she has to be reminded by friends to do this. She is also willing to put her life on the line in order to each her goals. Having something blow up in her face (literally) will rarely deter her.
Jade finds the nature of the wizarding world mostly backwards and confusing. As such, it is difficult for her to make friends with wizards who haven’t been exposed to the muggle world. The few things she does enjoy about it are some of the electronic-less spectacles at quidditch matches (even though she still doesn’t really ‘get’ quidditch. What’s wrong with football…?), mixing potions (basic chemistry more often than not), and transfiguration.
Jade’s love of transfiguration may also come from her love of animals. She loves the idea of transforming into an animal, most preferably a dog. She’s been trying to figure out a way to transform into a dog half-way. No, not like a furry form. The very idea would be ridiculous of course! She’s not a furry. Definitely not.
Background:
Jade was born in Australia to doting parents. Her mother was a prolific young witch who (after a long argument with her father) left England. She spent her life in the Australian outback and married a native muggle. For reasons that are still unknown, Jade’s mother turned her back on magic entirely and refused to indoctrinate Jade in the world. When Jade was six, her parents both died from a still unknown illness. Having no relatives left in the world, Jade’s grandfather was contacted. Jade was moved from Australia to her grandfather’s lavish manor in the woods of England.
Jade’s grandfather was somewhat of an eccentric, even for a wizard. He strongly believed in independence and people standing on their own two feet. He also didn’t believe in cooking dinner for others or having a refrigerator, so Jade learned to grow and hunter her own food.
At age eleven, Jade’s magic began to manifest. Her grandfather was overjoyed, insisting that jade should attend Hogwarts (as he had) and become as great a witch as her mother. Jade declined at first, insisting that she wanted to become a nuclear physicist and thought the magic thing was a joke. It wasn’t until Jade’s formal introduction into the wizarding world that she realized her grandfather wasn’t joking.
Quirks & Et cetera:
Jade is incredibly self-sufficient and hates the idea of having to rely on others. Not that she hates people, but she is used to not having to ask for help for anyone on anything. Over the years she’s eased up a bit but sometimes asking for help (especially from strangers) is incredibly difficult.
Jade enjoys sewing and knitting, as she’s working on her own clothes for years. She especially likes sewing cute things like stars and Squiddles into her scarf and uniform cloak (even though she tries to hide it on the inside of her cloak).
Jade hates quills and prefers pens. She has a huge stash of glittery and regular pens in her room.
Romantic affection embarrasses and confuses Jade. Being told someone likes her will just result in her going “Huh? What now?”. She may have a crush on someone but she’s not telling who (because its embarrassing). Jade’s embarrassment may also be due to her height and intimidating appearance. She has a habit of being just as tall if not taller than most men. It can be awkward.
She always wears her safety goggles.
