Jane walked through the aisles of the traincar, brushing past the other 5th years. She scurried between odd couples and groups of chit-chatting friends. She went all the way to the end of the car, where no one had claimed seats yet, and took a booth on the left of the car.
From the prospective of a random passerby, this sudden flight into the booth would have seemed like a simple decision based off whim. But three certain people on the same car knew exactly where that particular booth was and headed straight for it. They had sat in the last, left booth in the train car for the last 4 years, and that was certainly not going to change this year.
Jane sighed as she sat down. She had noticed that she was first there again, just like she was every year. She checked her pocket watch and sighed again. She had at least five minutes to wait before anybody else came by. She then pulled a handy pocket cookbook out of her cloak and started to read. Page 125, Non-Bake Cheesecake. (Yum!) Ingredients: 4 Embershards (To bake it without baking it of course!) , 2 cups of cream cheese....

About exactly five minutes later Roxy rushes in, trunk rolling behind her and face pink from running along the train. The color was bright against her pale as fuck skin, because a lack of melanin means that bushes are so much brighter. "Janey!!!" Roxy slides open the car door and rushes in, dropping her luggage entirely to envelop the girl in a huge hug. Once that was accomplished, Roxy picks up her trunk and puts it onto one of the overhead bunks, before plopping into the seat across from Jane. This all took about a minute or two.
"Omg, I'm so sorry 'bout that, my 'rents were tryin' to get pictures and last minute hugs an' it was jus' a big clusterfuck 'a "Rooooxy baby noooooo"." She rolls her eyes with a huff, "It's not like I'm dyin' or will never come back. Anyway!" She perks up, remembering something, "Did'ja bring any treats this time?" She leans forward in her seat, grinning.

Jane smiled. She had not realized how much she had missed Roxy until she flurried in.
"As a matter of fact, I did bring some confections. What do you think about some classic chocolate chip cookies? My family' secret recipe of course." she winked at Roxy.
"Don't tell the trolley marm, though. You remember what happened last time!" The Trolley lady did not approve of Jane's homebaked goodies, or her stink pellets, or Jane in general for that matter. She had caught Jane their third year with a bag full of pumpkin bread and had confisticated it. The group got it back, of course, but not without some revenge on the snack stealing hag (hence the dislike of stink pellets).
She reached in her bag above her seat and gave a couple cookies to Roxy for her to hide among her person.

To his distress, a very certain Jake English was currently attempting to navigate through the throngs of students and families saying their farewells, Jake having already been through his family's usual ritual by now, as he stumbled along over unkempt luggage and the like before finally, finally stepping onto the train, his own bags in tow. He knew where he was supposed to be headed, he and his friends' usual spot at the end of the car, but with so many other students bustling about, pushing his way through seemed nearly impossible! This is, of course, what he got for arriving so late, although he could hardly be blamed for it. His parents had always been slow to say goodbyes, coddling him and tousling his already mussed hair to the point where he nearly had to extract himself by force. "Oh, bloody fuck..." How the bleeding hell was he supposed to make his way down to them anytime soon? He tried elbowing his way through, with varying results of distress and/or intolerance from fellow classmates, ending up being all sorts of jostled about in the flurry of it all. Shit, shit, shit!

"Oh hell yeah." Roxy takes a cookie gleefully and shoves the entire thing in her mouth at once. The rest of the cookies were hidden on her leg, under a corner of her robe - perfect.
Once the delicious treat was devoured, Roxy shakes her head, "Witchcraft. Janey. Fuckin' hardcore witchcraft are in these cookies and I think you need to explain t' the Grand Wizengamot why you're usin' magic outside of school on these cookies." She was joking of course, "So how was your break? Letter can only 'xplain so much and I'm assuming you did more than you wrote!"

"Um well, My summer was just average. My Dad and I mostly hung around the house. I was grounded after an... uh... incident on our anual trip to the Irish coast." Jane loves Roxy, but she cannot tell her the real reason her father grounded her. The attacks at her life kept getting worse. He was even threatening to possibly move closer to Hogwarts for the protective wards it provided. He was deffinitely canceling the trips to the coast indeffinitely, which was too bad. She loved the oceanside.
"I really spent most of my time practicing my recipes. OH! And planning so uproarious pranks." Jane added. she smiled at the thought of some of the pranks that might come to be. She rubbed her hands together gleefully.
" But enough about me, how about you?" Jane asked while biting into a cookie. Oh gosh, she did not realize the cream to wasp juice was so off, she would have to fix that later. "What exciting shennanigans have happened to the lovely Ms. Roxy, Hmmm?"

Bro was never one to let his "kids" off easily. There was this strange ritual practice shit Bro would instill with the same questions and "what are you going to do if_________" inquiries. No wonder it took the longest for his brothers to get on their goddamn way, but it was understood. It was just the way they'd grown up with Bro. Thinking back on his friends' sobby goodbyes', one could only be thankful for Bro.
Nothing had really phased Dirk that he was actually being sent to Hogwarts once again to start a whole new year. It was only until he'd begun replaying the enthused chat bubbles in his head from last night, those with exclamation points and anticipation, that he saw this trainride more to see his trio that summer had pulled apart, rather than focused on where they'd be going. It was at this point that Dirk was going quite instinctively straight to the end of the car for one strict reason.
Though he'd not yet hit his growth spurt, maneuvering was not too much of a challenge for him. Dirk kind of just kept turning himself and squeezing through the buzzing crowd as vivid colors of distant villages flew by, muttering his adroit apologies and "'scuse me's". Dave knew by this point where he was heading, and stopped his tailgating early on. The environment of a new schoolyear; there was no other way to describe this feeling. There was a warmth of Dirk's own brimming, pleased suspense, this feeling inside of him boiling as a nest of dark locks caught his eye among the tops of the 6th years' heads. His heart picked up its pace, and so did his feet, now stepping in longer strides with a small smile of subtle jollity in his chest. Just in time to hear his old friend curse out his frustrations, too.
Finally catching up took more than just slipping past some of the halted students. The blond gave a quick glance over his shoulder, now seeing that he'd made a small stream of people trailing behind him. It was apparent he couldn't stop here. Once he'd finally reached what he believed to be the English boy, he quickly eyed him above his shades, just for a moment, to assure his question and it was indeed him, without a doubt. Now just barely skimming past him, awkwardly getting pressed due to so many people, he finally got his luggage past Jake's and lightly grabbed his forearm from behind him, and simply kept trudging with the English at his feet as if nothing had happened.
It was after more suffocating contact and moving that they reached a clearing of people at the end of the traincar. Dirk precariously let his bags drop as well as Jake's forearm to reach to the entrance of the booth they'd habitually met at. He let his posture ease against the wall of the booth, arm keeping his balance. "One would only think the crowd would get better over the years, huh." He let his chest collapse with oxygen, leveling his sights to seek out Jake's though dark spectacles. Silently motioning Jake into where they'd always sat, he allowed Jake to settle himself before himself. Dirk quietly tilted his head forward a tad to peek at the old gals awaiting. He watched them chatter and bounce slightly with the rickety train, and everything seemed right.
"But yeah no, didn't mean scare you back there. Watching you drown was entertaining enough before I'd realized that we have a whole year awaiting its shit to be wrecked and two of the best gals awaiting to see you live and kicking."

Fucking... Ah! With a triumphant grin, Jake managed to dislodge his luggage from that of another's and attempted to continue on his difficult way, only to be plucked up and, quite literally, dragged along, stumbling behind whomever-- Oh. Dirk! Well freaking hell, he should have expected as such, the bloke being near silent, especially underneath the din from the other students. He kept a firm hand on his luggage, allowing himself to be maneuvered as the Strider saw fit, and doing his best not to tumble over his own feet, let alone anyone else's.
After a few more moments, he was finally released, dropping his bags and bending forward to clap his hands on his knees, letting out an exaggerated breath. "Well color me surprised, you damn near saved me yet again, Strider!" His cheeks were a tad flushed, still recovering from their just-passed battle, and his eyes were bright as they crinkled with a warm smile. "I daresay I'll have to repay you, oh brave hero of mine." As he straightened, he sniggered at his tomfoolery, landing a playful punch to his best bro's shoulder. "It's fantastic to see you again-- And the lovely ladies, too!" he added, turning toward the cab with his arms outspread before snagging his luggage once more and striding inside, a small grunt escaping him as he hefted the heavy trunk up into the storage above.
Giving a great sigh, Jake plopped down beside his other blonde companion, slinging both arms over the backs of the train seat, and shooting Dirk a wink. "My, that was an adventure, wasn't it? Though I'm sure we've got plenty awaiting us!" Tired though he was already, he couldn't contain his bubbling enthusiasm, more than delighted to see his three favorite people in the world, alive and in person, once more.

"Well my summer's been borin' as hell," She sighed, shoving another cookie in her mouth. Roxy had no clue what was in the cookies, and she wasn't going to ask. That would probably be extremely rude. She'd only made the mistake of asking once, and instead she got a lecture and a horrified look.
She's saved from recounting her summer, which was, again, extremely boring (all she did was play video games and dick around on the computer), by her boys entering, "Dirk! Jake!" She bounces in her seat, "I missed you both so much!!! Like, omg, it's prob'ly been lit'ry forever!!!" She's grinning widely, and almost squeaks when Jake plops next to her.
"Oooh Mr. English!" She puts the back of her hand to her forehead and falls back, falling back into his lap and looking up at him, "How have you been, my green-texted prince? Get lost again?" Roxy glances over at Dirk, "I'll get t'you in a second, don't you worry" She winks before turning back to Jake. Roxy just likes to flirt, because she knows it doesn't really mean anything, and also it was super fucking fun.

"It's what I'm here for." Dirk hums, watching as he settled before hauling his own things overhead with a stretch. With that, he settles down next to his one and only Crocker. He'd put a happy hand on her shoulder, about to open his mouth before his senses begun tingling, just as Jake had settled. Raising a hand, he pretended to grab the airborn wink being sent his way, putting it into his non-existent pocket. He hadn't broken eye-contact with Jake that whole time, either. Let the Strider feel cool alight. Soon enough, a verbal "omg" came from the other blonde, and he broke contact with a slight cringe. Oh had he missed her lingo. "Literally, like, one whole forever." He hadn't let go of his gentle grasp on Jane, running his thumb over her shoulder with a softer side glance before crossing his arms on the small table in front of them, leaning forward. Sure, he wasn't usually like this, but with all of the conversations online, both deep and supportive, those he'd been involved with, it was a light way of showing his excitement to be here and as a thank you, sort of. Striders are also really weird.
Golden, somewhat bushy eyebrows were raised above tinted spectacles as Dirk pointed to himself. "I can wait, Rox--"
No wink was to beignored. Swiftly, he raised his hand and caught Roxy's wink as well, stuffing it into the same imaginary pocket. "These bitches can't wait, it seems; I being their target bitch." With a shrug, he continues to his original thought. "Sorry, did I butt into something?" Dirk motions to Jane and Rox. "Or is this a good time to say that it's good to be back."

"Oh no, go ahead!" Jake grinned over at him, only to jokingly wiggle his eyebrows at the Lalonde now deposited in his lap. Oh, how he missed this crazy bunch. He gave her hair a playful tousle before looking back up at the two friends seated across, his smile threatening to crack his cheeks from how ecstatic he was. He was used to Roxy's antics and Dirk's sarcasm, Jane's warm nature and their whole aura as a group. There was nothing he missed more thile away from school, not the magic or classes or wonders that Hogwarts could offer, but the feeling of being completely at ease with the three people he trusted the most. He wouldn't trade them for the world.
"So, Mister Strider," he started, coyly cocking a brow, "What sorts of fun and daring escapades have you conjured up for us this year? Something truly spectacular, I do hope, though I have absolute faith in your scheming capabilities."

"Oh boys." Jane giggled. "Here. I made some cookies."The cookie package was retrieved from it's hiding spot and the elicit contraband was immediately distributed among the group. The package(still containing a couple cookies for later) was then put back in it's hiding place in jane's bag.
Thngs were certainly getting livelier in their little train car, and Jane was excited for every minute of it. She had waited all summer for this and now that she was here, it did not disappoint. She smiled and settled down for what was bound to be an extremely exciting school year.
Jane was Jolted in her seat as the train left the station. She looked out the window at the, now moving, scenery. She was on her way.

Roxy huffed as her hair was messed up, but all-in-all she took it in stride. She missed her friends. Writing and typing wasn't the same, and Roxy missed being around her huge dork friends. "Did I jus' hear th' word 'shenanigans'? 'Cause I've been workin' on potions over the summer. Had things flown in an' stuff - mum didn't approve - but either way I figured out some new potions for us!" She sits up, grinning from ear to ear. Her trunk above her had a few bottles of potions rattling around in it - wrapped up, of course, but still in her trunk. Invisibility, quickening, beard growing, teeth sparkling, and even a single bottle of shrinking potion. That one was hard to make, and Roxy had spent days trying to get it right.
Of course, she was jerked forward when the train started moving, and she couldn't get as excited as planned, but it was a start. "First order of business though!" Roxy puts her hands up, trying to get everyone's attention, "Ne'one Sandy and Danny it up? Summer lovin' it up? Girls goin' crazy 'n cute boys - and o'course, oh, those summer nights." Yes. Roxy is actually making Grease references. She watched the movie maybe twice when she was 8 or so, but felt like it was relevant enough to the topic to semi-quote it.

One of the things about the way Dirk thinks is that he has no reason to not spice up anything that comes out of his mouth, especially if it is making the smallest task seem like an action film. It's usually that or complete bluntness, and he didn't think his friends wanted to hear much of the latter. He wasn't thinking at all, as his summer was spent doing the same shit: getting pestered by his brothers, pestering his friends online, and making events in his life 1000x more interesting and complex for himself.
"Your faith in said escapades, it seems, has not been left unheeded". Dirk paused, thanking Jane for the confection. "Aced every time, Jane. We will never know what you gracefully concoct these with, either. For all we know, these-", He broke one in half, examining it. "-Could be pure virgin Crocker blood and we wouldn't be able to tell". His punctuation was initiated with a bite of the half cookie. He closed his eye as his jaw moved slowly, simply happy to be a physical part of the four once again.
A sudden jerk forwards knocked Dirk back to his reality, and he'd tune into Roxy. "A 'how was everyones' summer' could have sufficed just as nicely." He begun. "You've just put everyone here at risk for greasing it up. Roxy, do you not understand that we are all axiomatically greasing it down from 1970's musicals". Summer Lovin' is over. You're getting old, Rox".

Jake cheerfully accepted the confection, eagerly taking a generous bite. "I don't know, Strider, speak for yourself. My laptop and I had quite a reconnection over the break, we were nearly inseparable." Insert cheesy eyebrow wiggle. "It's a damn shame you've made no progress, though, I had my hopes up. At least Miss Roxy Lalonde has us covered!" He sniggered as he offered her a bro fist, finishing off his first cookie.
"I," he began, mouth full, "on the other hand," swallow, "have done a bit of planning, although, admittedly, not that much. My electronic paramour and I had more than a bit of catching up to do!"
