Appearance (100 character minimum):
At four feet and eleven inches, stands the stout yet athletic woman named, Makeda. Makeda is half Zimbabwean and half English, leaving her with fairly light brown skin and emerald green eyes. In her youth she loved exploring and running in forests, the smell of the crisp air gliding past her face, and the crunch of fallen leaves under her feet--ah the rush it was like Makeda had a home away from home. Unfortunately for her, her adventures into the forest had gained her a scar on her left shoulder when she encountered a wild cougar. Needless to say Makeda's father wouldn't let her go out into the forest again until she learned a better way to protect herself.Nowadays she likes to wear a bit of makeup- just some eyeliner and lipstick, she never really learned how to use anything other than that and truthfully she never really wanted anymore. She enjoys wearing shorts and clothing that allows her more free movement of her limbs, although she does tend to cover it up from time to time. Her hair tends to be on the messy side but she likes it that way.

Personality (200 character minimum):
She has always been a very open-minded individual especially when it came to controversial topics. If you had a problem, she would always be there to help you fix it. Your boyfriend break up for you? Makeda's there with a box of cookies and a shoulder to cry on. Someone giving you a hard time? Never fear, Makeda's guns here will certainly send these wimps the right message! And if she ever, ever catches you trying to hurt a poor defenseless animal you better pray that that critter kills you before she finds you first. Because come on, at least attack something that have a fair chance of fighting back!
Those that have met Makeda have known her to be an exceptionally kind, creative, loyal, and light-hearted individual but also very coy, sure of herself, and has a certain fierceness about her. She has a very curious mind and likes to delve into personal subjects while forgetting about the fragility of the situations. This has ended with bringing her many troubles in her youth, with colleagues and friends alike.
She had to work hard to get where she is now so Makeda has a bit more empathy towards those who had a rough time, and she'll tend to be a bit sweeter on those individuals as well.
Background (Why Hogwarts? Childhood? Any connections to other characters?):
Eldest sister of the Lejions, Makeda had been first in her blood family to attend the Hogwarts academy and a Hufflepuff at that. Her birth father had died prior to her attending the school, leaving her mother to deal with a house full of little girls all by her lonesome self. Makeda had been unable to effectively cope with his death and began acting out at 13. She finally snuck off one night into the forest outside of school grounds and hid there for two weeks until the groundskeeper at the time found her. She had befriended a centaur (the word befriend used very lightly for he was a very rude centaur, always mocking her lack of knowledge about the forest. Ooh how it made her skin burn!) and they showed her how to hunt and forage in the woods and where all the freshwater rivers were. She regrets not having the chance to thank them, for without them she would have surely died there. Most likely swallowed up by an Acromantula, those things were crawling all over at the time! Yuck!
She was a very resourceful woman, having to raise her two younger sisters once their mother's cancer had kicked in she had to find new ways to make money to pay off the bills. It wasn't until the illness took her mother's life that she finally became the sole guardian of her little siblings. She was only 22, still very much a child in her own right, but she knew what he had to do.
Makeda worked odd jobs; lounge club singer, she sold pelts of kills, mechanic, rooftop repair jobs-- anything she could do to get by until she heard of an opening at her old school. A teaching job. Not the worst thing she could do but certainly an improvement than what she had been doing. Even better too that she could watch out for her little sisters and make sure they don't make the same mistakes she made.
For Professors: Why is your character teaching the class they are?
Her birth father had been a muggle painter and when he was still alive he would place her upon his lap and guide her hand as he taught her how to paint. It was one the few moments she could spent time with him and she cherished it the most. It was also how she would come to grieve his death and the later loss of her mother. So she wants to bring this medium of creativity to the students of Hogwarts to give them an outlet to express themselves as individuals and new up and becoming wizards and witches. Makeda hopes her classroom will be a a sanctuary for those who would need it and a beacon of hope to help guide them out of tough times.
Quirks & Et cetera (Anything else you would like to add?):
She loves animals of all kinds, but her favorites are those of the feline family. Something about them reminds them of herself-- their grace, precision, ferocity, ahh they're just so lovely!
She has an extreme weakness for puns and will slip in a few cat puns during her lessons.
Her mother named her Makeda because it meant "queen of sheba" and she would always tell her that's how she should be treated in love and she would lovingly call her Makena because it means "the happy one".
