Roxy sat behind her desk, grading first-year papers. Droog hated the younger kid's essays, and as soon as he realized she could grade them for him, they became Roxy's duty. It wasn't like she minded, either. It was almost fun to see what hair-brained ideas they came up with, plus she could tell early who was good or bad at potions. It must've been simple for Droog to notice that Hal was intentionally slacking, Roxy mused, since the evidence would've all been in the papers where he actually tried.
Speaking of Hal, she supposed he should be coming soon, so with a flick of her wand, she unlocked the door. At this point Roxy had given up trying to clean, and her room was, quite simply, a mess. The bed across the room from her desk was unmade, green and silver bedsheets in a pile at the end (that was Droog's choice, not hers, and she believes he almost laughed at her when she requested Ravenclaw colored - or pink - sheets), and clothes littered the floor. A dresser, which was beside the door to her (personal) bathroom, had several drawers open and the contents were in chaos. A few stuffed animals lay on the top, either fallen over or draped with some more clothes/parchment. Her desk also had a few piles of paper and various quills and inkpots in precarious and random places, some of them a touch away from falling and spilling. The only corner of the room which was free of the mess was Mutini's area, which had his bed and his food, while the cat itself was nowhere to be seen. And at this point if Hal gave her shit over the state of her room, he could clean it.
Right. Shit. At another wave of her wand (she was really good at non-verbal simple spells by now), a bra flew across the room and into a dresser drawer. If he saw that Rox would assume he would either make a dumb comment, or more likely become awkward about it. And it wasn't that awkward Hal wasn't cute - he so was - but then he might leave and then what would Roxy do? Not talk to her boyfr- student she's mentoring? No way.
She hummed as she worked now, just waiting for the door to open.

It wasn’t that Hal was excited for tutoring, but Hal was excited for tutoring. Sure, maybe it was a little odd for a student to be mentored every single evening with extra long sessions on weekends, but Hal was a serious student. Completely serious. Abso-fucking-lutely so. Yep. Only studying. What kind of young man do you people take him for? Ugh. The nerve of some.
Anyways, Hal was busy making his way down to the dungeons. Why the dungeons? Well, because his girlfriend tutor resided there, being the Potions TA after all. Satchel slung over his shoulder (with Reginold safely tucked inside), Hal smoothly pushed open the door to Roxy’s quarters, used to the general clutter by now, and strode inside, closing the door back behind him before flopping down on his tutor’s bed. “Hey,” he grinned, watching the hedgehog nose his way out from the bag and quickly settle on the nearest pillow. His shades had slid up his forehead when he’d laid back, and he peeked under them to grin at the girl sitting at the desk, cheekily raising his brows. He’d developed a much more chipper disposition since they started dating seeing each other this mentoring business, although he nearly always saved it for the blonde.
“Hope I didn’t interrupt anything.” He turned his gaze back to the ceiling with a melodramatic sigh. “I guess I could just come back later…”

She didn't even look up when her door opened, in the middle of an essay at that point. She made a few more corrections before she turned around, parchment in hand, "Only thing you're inturruptin' is my near constant correction of a first year's essay." Roxy holds the offending essay up, "Poor Colette thinks 'potions' is spelled p-o-t-o-i-n-s. Po-toins." Roxy snickers, rolling her eyes and putting the half-completed essay on her desk.
She stands, making her way over to the bed, and sitting on the edge. "Also we have at least an hour-long study sesh so don't even think of leavin' before then." Roxy very casually leans over Hal to grab his bag, and once she checks there's no hedgehog hidden inside, she even more casually tosses the bag onto her dresser. An unlucky plush is hit and falls onto the floor. This may be why her room is as messy as it is. "Whoops your bag is gone." She giggles, flopping across torso diagonally. Her head was by his shoulder, so she looked over with a grin, "Double whoops, now you're trapped." These were the most unorthodox study sessions ever. The only reason they were even allowed to continue was that Hal got good grades, and no one could or wanted to prove that it didn't help.

His eyes followed the discarded bag and he snorted in reply, letting out a soft “oof” as he was flopped upon. He raised a single eyebrow in coy question before reaching up, grabbing hold of his shades, and gently depositing them on the floor behind him before resting the hand the small of her back, holding their eye contact. “Trapped? Oh what a pity, too bad I can’t--” In one quick motion, using the hand at her back to help, he turned and flipped their positions, grinning down at her. It was convenient being so much taller than her. “--escape. A pleasure meeting you here.” He was in a better mood than usual and chuckled softly as he pressed a kiss to her temple. “Now you’re trapped.” He shifted to rest his elbow on the bed, cheek in his palm and took a glance at Reginold. The sudden bed movement hadn’t phased him, he was used to room-shaking explosions due to Roxy’s past experiments. With a small quirk still at his lips, Hal directed his gaze back at the blonde beneath him, tweaking her nose. “Missed me too much?” Nevermind he’d seen her earlier in class. A few hours was definitely long enough to miss an awkward babe like him, right? Absolutely.

Roxy grinned and giggled as she was flipped, looking up at him and winking, "Oooooooh, Mr. Strider, ooooh." The back of her hand goes to her head once he pulls away from kissing her temple, and she fakes a swoon, fanning herself. "I'm stuck under my hot boyfriend. Prob'ly forever. Whatever shall I do?" She winks at him again, putting her hands on his cheeks to pull him down for a proper kiss. It lasts a few seconds before she lets go, dropping her arms beside her head.
"You can't even believe how much I missed you. Like, omg, Droog had t'put me on the opposite side of the class - in case you couldn't tell what that was." Roxy snickers. Droog could only handle too many grins, glances, and giggles before he snapped and separated the two of them. "Oh! Right!" Roxy snorts, silently accioing her wand, "Thirty points t'Ravenclaw, since Droog was a huge jerk." She always tried to make up the points he took away, especially because she could.
Roxy was more than comfortable around Hal, and her slur was a testament of that. Hal, Dirk, Jane and Jake were the only people who ever heard her talk this smoothly, and it was entirely because of how comfortable she was around them. Outside of the room, she grew nervous and self-conscious, even if she didn't know it, and her slur would match her nervousness. Alone with the people she loved, it was almost non-existent. Of course, it was still there, but not as much as it normally was.

A bright grin pulled at his lips as they pressed against hers for a moment, the smile staying once he was set free. It was ridiculous how much happier he was than just a year or two previous, all because of this gorgeous goofball laying beneath him. Yeah Hal's corny, fuck off. “Oh, is that what that was? I thought maybe your periodic gigglesnorts were becoming too much for him, didn’t mean to get you in trouble, though.” Sniggering quietly, he nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck, content to lay like that for more than a little while. His currently relaxed nature was testament enough to him being just as comfortable as Roxy, his head resting against her shoulder.
Most people would never had taken Hal to be so touchy, generally reserved and closed off as he was, and it took a hell of a lot for him to be so at ease. He let out a soft huff of breath as he settled more completely against her, a small chuckle breaking through. “What was it you said last time? ‘Five points for being undeniably adorkable and scoring the bestest babe on campus?’” he simpered up at her, lightly flicking under her jaw. What a fucking nerd.

Wen Hal smiled, Roxy almost melted. Occasionally she was reminded of her original goal: to make the almost-Dirk kid smile, and at that moment her goal came back to her at full force and Rox just grinned back, almost completely content. It was amazing how a conversation between an excited, mistaken 2nd year to a unapproachable, reserved 1st year could lead to something this fulfilling 7 years later."What." Roxy tries a very good attempt at being deadpan, "No way, I tot'ly do not giggle-snort." She totally does though. Roxy leans her cheek against the top of his head, wrapping her arms around his torso.
Roxy loved how touchy-feely Hal was, especially because it lead to great cuddling. At his question, she giggled, "No, not exactly. I mean, basically, but I think it was 10 points. 5 for being undeniably adorkable an' another 5 for scoring the bestest and hottest babe on campus." Roxy nods, closing her eyes, "Of course, I can say this now, because Porrim hasn't been on campus for two years." She says this as though calling herself the hottest babe would be wrong when Porrim was on campus. Mostly because it would be wrong. Porrim is, objectively speaking, very, very hot.

“Uh huh,” he rolled his eyes. “And Droog totally doesn’t want to slay my sorry plush ass.” He was aware of the teacher’s disdain for him, MORE than aware. Professor Droog had made damned well sure to get his point across, that Hal wasn’t allowed to hurt a hair on poor Roxy’s head. Of course that just meant he couldn’t know about their little relationship, no one could, really. Despite it only being a year age difference, Hal was still a student and Rox was part of the faculty. Not anything major, but rumors weren’t a good thing regarding that area of taboo. Neither wanted to risk her sweet gig at the castle.
Hal’s eyes drifted upward to his hand, currently twisting a light blonde lock of Roxy’s hair between his fingers, and sighed almost sadly. He didn’t want this ripped away from him.
“Mm?” he hummed, brought back out of his melancholy train of thought, only to scoff at his girlfriends words. “Porrim may have been a grade A hot babe, but as for beating you for the title… That’s debatable.” He tiled his head back and pressed a playful peck to her jaw. “She wasn’t near as ridiculous as you. I’d say that’s what won me over.”

Roxy huffed, eyes still closed, "Well he doesn't. Droog is a nice guy. I mean, he's really awk and kinda forcibly polite, but I've never been scared of him." And that's because he doesn't want to hurt and/or murder Roxy. Somehow Rox had ended up being one of the only students Droog cared about, and he made sure that no one hurt her. Mostly because he didn't know how to deal with teenagers or their emotions, but also because he wanted to make sure Roxy was taken care of. Like getting her this job. Roxy loved helping him teach potions, and she wouldn't screw it up for the world. Of course, she also wanted to hang out with her student boyfriend, which was the reason they were hanging out in her room and not outside. None of the people who knew Hal and Roxy well, like the Ravenclaws in Hal's year (so they were always next to each other if they were in the same room - so what?), actually believed that they broke up. But enough did, and appearances were held up, and no one seemed to bug them about that.
Roxy realized her wand was still in her hand, and she let it roll off Hal's back and bounce on the bed beside him. Whoops.
"I'm sorry, Porrim still wins in hotness." She sticks out her tongue, "I mean, I 'ppreciate the fact that you're votin' your girlfriend, but Porrim is still hotter." She nods, before breaking into a grin and kissing his forehead, "Though, yes, I am tons more ridic and also a huge babe as well as Porrim was. I'm not sayin' I'm not, I was just saying she's legit hotter." Again. Porrim was objectively hot.

“Like I said, it’s debatable.” He craned his neck just fast enough to snag a kiss before Roxy set her head back down, his eyes crinkling from his boyish smile. This year was undoubtedly becoming his best. There was no one left for him to compare himself to besides D, but he and his uncle were cool, and he was in the middle of a relationship with the fantastic witch he’d been pining after for years. Of course, things were a little odd without his brothers and their friends around for him to silently tag along behind, but things were nice. He’d never felt more confident. He shifted once more to hover above Roxy, giving her his usual subtly incredulous stare. “I still can’t believe that you continue to deny Droog’s deathwish for me.” He was only half joking. With an exaggerated roll of his eyes and tired huff, he folded his arms over her chest and rested his head down again. “Anyways, any new and/or interesting developments? I’m afraid my general school life is as dull as ever. This doesn’t fall under that category, by the way, so don’t worry. You’re a handful, I could never be bored around you.” His tone was rather light, more teasing than anything.
OOC: Ack, probably not one of my better replies. Sorry about that, bae unu

She couldn't help but grin back each time he smiled at her. What a fucking cutie. And better, Roxy thought, than probably any other person - magic or otherwise - than she could've ended up with. Things weren't perfect, but if they were she would probably be worried about it, and it was just imperfect enough that she could see a long-term thing with Hal.
Well, longer then the thing they already have. Which is about 2 years of long already. "Fine, whatev's, I ain't gonna argue on this because that would be silly and we got better things to talk 'bout." She smirks, "Like how Droog totes does NOT want to kill you an' more likely just wants to make sure you're not going to harm me in any way." She realizes that's a weird note to end on, "Which I'm sure you won't, but Droog isn't, 'cause he doesn't really trust Striders." No explanation on that, although Roxy does know why.
When Hal shifts, Roxy moves a hand up to just casually run through his hair, breaking up the gel that's already semi-worn throughout the day and trying to get to the normal softness of it. She rolls some bigger clumps through her fingers, and mostly watches her hand, eyes flicking back to Hal's face occasionally. "Well," She hums, "I got 1 year essays basically done. Already finished second years'." Roxy thinks about her day, furrowing her brow slightly, "Erika Simmons, a third year, knocked over a cauldron again. Third one this year. An' it would be understand'ble if they exploded, but no. She jus' knocks them over. I think it might have t'do with Cameron Deiz, but idk T-B-honest." Roxy shrugs, trying to pull up anything else interesting, "Oh! And Rusty Sanders, a fifth year, made a perfect potion. It was pre' awesome considering his bffsie - a kid named Connor - was throwin' paper at his head the whole period." Roxy noticed it, too, but left the Gryffindors alone to brew, sure that if it was going to fuck their potions up that they would learn something next time. Instead she learned Rusty is a damn good brewer and Connor is a pretty piss-poor shot. Antics like those just made her day more interesting.

Of course things were imperfect. At the very least, Hal was still unsure about himself, and even where their relationship stood at times. The majority of their time together generally kept such mindsets away, but...things could creep up now and again. They could, and they did. Thankfully, this didn’t seem to be one of those moments.
“I call bullshit, but A for effort, Rox. You don’t see it because he dotes on you. In his weird, creepy, intimidating way.” He snorted a little at the thought, letting himself relax again atop her. “And you’re right, I wouldn’t and I won’t. At least I’ll try, can’t say too much for some of the comments I make, but you haven’t brought anything up yet, so. Either way, wouldn’t dream of it, cross my heart.” His hand lazily lifted and gestured vaguely in an ‘x’ before falling back to its previous place. He may not have sounded completely sincere, but Roxy was possibly the most important person in his life; He wasn’t about to just throw that away.
A soft hum resonated in his throat as she set to work, his eyes closing in contentment. “Huh,” he mumbled, eyebrow twitching a tad when she snagged a particularly stubborn lock. “Think he could be as good as you?” He cracked open an eye and glanced as best he could in her face’s general direction, but with the way he was situated he couldn’t even catch a glimpse. Giving up with a slight eyebrow quirk, he returned to his content state, wiggling just a little to get back to being comfortable. “Droog picked up on him at all? Figured he might want to...gather up you talented folk while you’re still ripe for the picking or...whatnot.” More half-hearted hand twirling for emphasis.

Roxy tried her best to reassure him every time Hal became too insecure, but there were times he hid it and times that she didn't notice until he was pretty deep in it. It's been a while since his last one and Roxy was glad he was fine at the moment.
She huffs as he insults Droog, cutting in with a "He's jus' kinda awk..." It wasn't a very good argument, but that was also because Roxy didn't have one and Droog was a very hard person to argue for. At his promise, she smiles to herself, "I'm sure if you hurt me I'd tell you. Not like you'd be tryin' either. I'm pre' sure any of that would just be an accidental-thing and we could just move on after. Not like I would ever intentionally try t'hurt you either. Ever." Honestly Roxy wasn't sure how to continue that so she just sort of dropped it and moved on to the next point.
Roxy chewed on her lip as she worked on un-gelling his hair, and after she thinks she tugged a little too hard on a part, she tried to convey her apologies by rubbing that par of his head gently. Didn't mean to hurt you, just trying to make your hair soft again. "Rusty? Maybe. He doesn't seem t'care 'bout potions that much. Wants to be an Auror when he grows up. The kid's got a natural talent, sure, but he also doesn't seem to want to work at it." She shrugs as much as she can with an entire boyfriend laying on her. He was resting just about boob-level and if it wasn't going to ruin the moment, Roxy would've totally mentioned it by now. "An' Droog respects the kid's talent, but the kid doesn't wanna do shit 'bout it, plus he's loud and obnoxious, so Droog doesn't seem to wanna get anywhere near that." Roxy was/is also loud, occasionally obnoxious, but she knew when to get to work, as well as have an honest-to-god passion and love for potions. There was an entire difference there.

Hal let his eyes flutter shut once more as he listened, enjoying the quiet affection being given to him. His attention was slipping, but the conversation hadn’t taken a turn back to important, so he figured she wouldn’t be too irate if he drifted off a little, giving small hums to show he was, at least, acknowledging her speaking. It hadn’t been a particularly long or grueling day, but Hal found himself yawning softly as the current topic seemed to come to a close. It wasn’t that he was uninterested in her students, but he was, understandably, pretty uninterested in her students, although their apparent potential was always intriguing to hear about. This is how Hal found himself slumped completely against the petite frame of his girlfriend, jaw slack and breathing slowed. If anything, Roxy should take it as a compliment, a testament to just how unworried and content he was with her, enough to completely let his guard down. It wasn’t such a rare occurrence anymore, for him to be pretty openly affectionate, but it shouldn’t be taken for granted. Hal made sure to let Roxy know he adored and appreciated her, but he wasn’t yet quite ready to show or tell just how much. At the very least he was smitten.

Roxy kind of rambled on for a bit, unaware of Hal slipping off. When she did finally notice, she felt a little embarrassed. Whoops. It was very uncommon for Hal to fall asleep around anyone, so Roxy was actually a bit surprised that he fell asleep here and now.
She lay under him, just admiring him for a bit. His lashes were long and pretty, and the freckles that spattered his face were adorable. His hair was pretty, too. An actual color instead of Roxy's own lack of one. Overall, Hal was just really pretty, even with his ridiculous eye color and manine shades.
Roxy finished ungelling his hair, running her hands through the now-soft locks, thinking about how much she liked him. She loved him too, and after 2 years of dating him, she could probably even say she was in love with him. She should tell him that. And leave out the part where she could possibly see herself living the rest of her life with him because she's 18 and he's 17 and that's just too much. She could, truthfully, but that was just way too much right now.
Speaking of the rest of his life, Roxy realized she never got a clear answer from him on what he wanted to do. Every time she asked he dodged the question. Now was obviously the time to ask again. She does the only logical thing and pokes his face gently. "Hey. Haaaaaaal." she whispers, putting her palm against his cheek and changing to rub her thumb across his cheekbone. "Hey. Babe. What do you wanna do for your life? Life goals. Hal." Good girlfriend. Important questions. Appropriate timing.
