Kirill looks a touch young for his age despite his far older mannerisms. He is tall and built like a tank, in direct contrast with most wizards, and stands tall and proud during lectures and slightly hunched and drawn inwards outside of lectures. He has an eternal squint given to him by his time at see and his hair seems to be permanently wind blown and sea salted. His temples have started to grey ever so slightly. His onxy hair and extremely high maintenance beard is akin to his prominent Slavic heritage. His most defining feature is the two long scars running straight down his left eye a gift from a nasty encounter with a squid a few years prior to becoming a professor.

-ABOUT-
Personality (200 character minimum): There has never been a more head strong bastard of a teacher, but an incredibly good one. His most notable trait is possibly his "fool me once, blood vendetta upon you and your children." which has led him to many many many disagreements and scuffles. Kirill is not much of a people person, growing up on the ocean where every man has a task and it is assumed they will do about that task with no help extra help, so he's learned self sufficience and as a side effect, introversion. He dislikes his coworkers, most of whom he thinks do not do their jobs properly. During lectures he stands tall and broad, speaking in his commanding captains boom, but outside of lectures he's a bit drawn in and rasps quietly to the rare person that sees him. He loves his dog Freyir and waking up early, and thats about it. He especially hates the giant squid, due in part to his encounters with other giant squids during his sea days. He has a sailor's loyalty but he has a strict moral line that if someone crosses he will double cross them the first chance he gets.
Background (Why Hogwarts? Childhood? Any connections to other characters?): Kirill Zarbubstov Ampora was born in Nizhiny Novgorod, deep in the heart of European Russia. His father was a boatman on the Volga River and his mother was a cook, his mother was a muggle and his father was a very esteemed pureblood who eventually worked his way up to head of the Magical Flotilla of the Volga. These boats, manned by wizards (only wizards, it is Russia) that distributes necessary magical implements and news to the various magical villages along the Volga hiding from the Soviets, considering their history of not being very accepting of sorcery. Kirill, at age 14, began to work his way through his father's company and eventually worked his way from port to port and over the slowly drying riverbeds in the southern parts of Russia until he made it to Volgograd. At that point, at age 21, his father gave him a choice of heading further down the Volga and joining the far larger Caspian Sea Flotilla. He chose at this point to leave the family business and head towards Rostov-on-Don and further onto the Black Sea. There he joined a ship named Flot Volny specifically on a "fishing voyage". The voyage itself was a Bestiary Research expedition to log sea monsters near the Charybdis. The problem with his first voyage outside of the Volga was that the chances of finding something new in a whirlpool explored by Greeks in antiquity was slim to none, so Kirill read the eccentric ship captains library, the whole thing, multiple times. During the 1 year voyage he taught himself multiple charms, the English language, how to read Druidic texts, and the Greek Magic history. After the end of the most boring voyage out of Russia he jumped ship at the port under Marseille where he received his current personal wand from a English wandmaker. From there he spent 10 years travelling from Massalia to every corner of the globe on voyages similar to his first, vaguely similar except with hunting as the goal, and simply supply runs to and from prominent points of the wizarding world. During the 9th year, while sailing through the Sea of Cortez after a short stop in Tijuana to sate his alcoholic tendencies, the fishing boat he was on was attacked by a collossal squid and that is where his face was gored right through the left eye by the claws on its tentacles. This eventually led to Kirill settling down and beginning running ships in the North Sea based out of Orkney, also to give up alcohol. During this slower time, where he somehow followed his fathers path and ended up Admiral of the North Sea flotilla. When he was 33 he had Cronus with his new, first, and only wife and the following year he had Eridan. Once she keeled over from Consumption he lessened his role in the flotilla and began focusing more on his kids. He wanted them to get an actual education unlike him but he certainly did not condone sending his kids off to some castle in England. So, he used his adept skills at bargaining to worm his way in as a professor of the History of Magic.
For Professors: Why is your character teaching the class they are?: The thing he did on almost every voyage was read. When he had down time he tried to learn something. This started mostly after he left the backwoods of Russia and realized how poorly educated he was in anything not related to a boat or water. It's also very easy to learn the history of magic when a good deal of one's life involed visitng every magic port that might have been there for centuries.
Quirks & Et cetera (Anything else you would like to add?): His dog is fucking huge and the Groundskeeper is smelly and wishes they would just fire him now. His kids are great and he loves them. His kids probably don't love him as much as he loves them. He loves his kids so much he will fucking kill anyone that touches his kids. Except Cronus on occasion because he knows Cronus deserves it.
